Crimes Reported in Charles County:

BURGLARY: On Oct. 15 at about 6:15 p.m., an unknown suspect gained entry into a garage in the 3800 block of Pine Cone Circle in Waldorf. The homeowner saw the suspect who fled after being observed. The suspect was described as a black male, possibly in his teens, wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and black Jordan tennis shoes. His hair was long and in a pony tail. Nothing was stolen. Officer G. Cook is investigating.

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY REPORTED: On Oct. 15, at 3:40 p.m., officers responded to a call for suspicious activity in the 1700 block of Brightwell Court. Two girls, ages 14 and 8, were walking toward their house on Bannister Circle in the area of Brightwell Court when a man driving a four-door passenger car pulled up beside them, pointed to the passenger seat and asked if they wanted to get in the car. The girls said no and the man drove away. The girls described the man as a black male, possibly in his 30’s, with a shaved head, facial hair, and wearing a blue jacket with a black tie and a white shirt. SPECIAL VISION CAMERAS STOLEN FROM CAR: On Oct. 15 between 12 p.m. – 12:30 p.m., unknown suspect(s) broke into a car parked in the parking lot of a business in the 3000 block of Crain Highway and stole two Plusoptix cameras which are used to check people’s vision. The cameras were the property of the La Plata Lions Club. The victim was at the business checking vision and hearing for several homeless people. As she was packing up to leave, she placed the cameras in her car while she gathered other equipment. When she arrived home, she noticed the cameras were gone. Charles County Crime Solvers is offering a cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who stole the cameras. PFC M. Hancock is investigating.

FIRST-DEGREE ASSAULT: On Oct. 14 at 7:25 p.m., officers responded to the area of Smallwood Village Center for the report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they located a 21-year-old male who had a gunshot wound to his ankle. The victim was transported to a hospital where he was treated for a minor injury. The victim would not provide further information but witnesses said a silver or dark-colored vehicle may have been involved. Det. J. Elliott is investigating.
