HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY IN CARROLL CO.

(GAMBER, MD) – Maryland State Police homicide investigators are continuing their search for suspects in an overnight shooting in Carroll County that left one man dead.

The victim has been tentatively identified by investigators, but his name is not being released at this time because his family has yet to be notified. He is an adult male believed to be from New York.

Shortly before 11:00 p.m. yesterday, Maryland State Police from the Westminster Barrack responded to a 911 call from a motorist on Rt. 32 at Nicodemus Road, near Gamber, Md. The caller said he saw someone lying in the roadway and two people were standing nearby. He said as he approached, the two people entered a white vehicle and drove away.

Responding troopers found a man lying in the roadway who had sustained what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.

Troopers issued a lookout for the vehicle that left the scene. Baltimore County Police located that vehicle overnight being driven by a female who is currently in State Police custody. Investigators are obtaining a search warrant for the vehicle. The search is continuing for one or more suspects who may have been involved in this shooting.

Maryland State Police crime scene technicians processed the scene for evidence overnight. A member of the Carroll County State’s Attorney’s Office responded and has been working with the State Police Homicide Unit investigators. Investigators are continuing to interview residents in the area about what they may have seen or heard. Assistance is also being provided by the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Baltimore County Police, and the New York Police Department.

Anyone who may have been driving along Rt. 32 in the area of Nicodemus Road between 10:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., Saturday, is urged to contact Maryland State Police at 410-386-3000. Anyone with information about the person or persons responsible for the murder is urged to contact Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP. A reward of up to $2,000 is being offered for information.
