Tickets are $80 per person and include two fiber art classes of your choice, a box lunch and museum admission. Participants may also sign-up for half-day sessions for $40 that includes one workshop and will not include lunch. All proceeds benefit the Dee of St. Mary’s. To register, visit www.bit.ly/FiberArtsWorkshop.

Classes are taught by master craftswomen and include creating patterns with Paintstiks, paper piecing, pin weaving with ribbons, solar printing, stencils on fabric, elements of landscape design, confetti landscapes, basket weaving, paper piecing a Compass Rose design, making fabric coiled bowls, and knitted scarfs. Materials fees may apply.

The Dee of St. Mary’s is one of the last skipjacks ever built on the Chesapeake Bay. It was a fixture on the water for almost 100 years, working the oyster beds of the Chesapeake and supplying oysters to much of the country’s seafood industry. It was designated as the state boat of Maryland in 1985. The boat was donated to the Calvert Marine Museum in 2013 and serves as the base for Chesapeake Bay Field Lab (CBFL) educational programs.
