No Obvious Trauma On Man Found Dead In Carroll Co. – Cause And Manner Of Death Pending

Screen Shot 2015-11-07 at 12.15.24 PM(WESTMINSTER, MD) – Pathologists found no obvious trauma on the body of a man found dead yesterday afternoon in Carroll County, but the ruling on the cause and manner of his death is pending, while doctors await further test results.

The body of Brian L. Sampson, 27, of no fixed address in Carroll County, was found shortly after 3:30 p.m. yesterday in the attic of a vacant house in the 1000-block of Taneytown Pike, Westminster, Md.  His body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, where an autopsy was conducted today.

The autopsy revealed no evidence of injury or trauma on Sampson’s body that would explain why he died.  Pathologists did not determine the cause or manner of death at this time.  Before ruling, they are conducting toxicology tests and tissue examinations that they hope will provide additional information about what caused Sampson’s death.

Sampson was found by detectives from the Westminster Police Department and the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office who were looking for him.  Sampson was wanted on a warrant for a parole violation.  The detectives determined Sampson was equipped with a monitoring bracelet while on parole.  Their tracking of the device led them to search a vacant house, where they found Sampson’s body lying in the attic.

The investigation is continuing.
